"Men today must return to God's
revealed Word so that the Lord
can use us to repair the breaches in the walls of our
homes,
our lives, our very culture itself."
Dave Gerry
Raised
in agriculture, growing up among the lemon and avocado
orchards of Ventura County, Dave gave his life to the
Lord at a very early age. Today Dave is an accomplished
Engineering Geologist; but his passion is communicating
God's Word to men. He is convinced that men today need
to pursue wisdom through which they may apply biblical
mandates to every aspect of life. Dave exhorts Christian
men to "demonstrate faithfulness to the biblical
pattern for living as husbands and fathers, as 'priests'
in our homes."
Dave graduated from the University of California at
Riverside in 1969, and then served in the United States
Army. He married Judy during that time and they have
been married for thirty two years. Dave's marriage has
always been his priority, a fact that he shares as a
key theme at marriage retreats
where he and Judy speak. Together, they stress the value
of having an intentional marriage: a relationship built
on the Rock, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dave very much enjoys delivering "The Prophetic
Moment" to the Bereans, a young family class at
the Evangelical Free Church of Camarillo. Each Sunday
he discusses current events and prophecy outlined in
Scripture - key themes that may give clues to the return
of Christ. Dave says, "There is a sense of great
urgency since the Lord's return is imminent. This urgency
is a great motivation to me in bringing my life to obedience
and servanthood. I want to be found working faithfully
when Christ returns. I want to hear Him say, "Well
done, good and faithful servant! (Matthew 25:23)."
Dave and Judy provide mentorship and Biblical teaching
within the Berean class to aid members in building a
future that is focused on honoring the Lord. They provide
helpful examples for both building family memorials
to what the Lord has done and establishing traditions
to keep the holidays sacred. One very important part
of Dave's leadership is seeking out and mentoring the
next generation of men to be teachers of God's Word
and active, contributing members within the church body.
Dave received his Masters Degree in Engineering Geology
from Colorado State University in 1974 and served as
a petroleum geologist from 1975-1986. Since 1987 he
has functioned as an Engineering Geologist managing
a team of employees at an environmental services company.
While Dave values education and has encouraged that
for all of his children, he emphasizes that, "To
have understanding is more precious than gold, and godly
wisdom leads to the essence and meaning of life itself."
Dave has been active in Gideons since 1980 as well as
serving as a Director of AWANA for eight years.
When asked about his 'accomplishments', he is known
to instead show his 'blessings', the pictures in his
wallet of his five children: Joanna, Josh, Hope, Laurel
and Micah.
